Ok, so yesterday my outrigger clips decided they didn't want to hold my bars anymore, both of them! Why, after using them all season without problems, they decided to both fail at the same time is a mystery. they are roller troller aftcos with the slide(not the wheel to adjust tension that I've always used/seen) has anyone else had this problem, and more importantly has anyone come up with a solution?

Any chance they are backwards. The clip should open away form you.

backwards? no, they're not backwards.
As I said I've been using them all season(many trips) without problems, till yesterday.have had many knockdowns, wondering if the plastic wears after a certain number of uses.

my solution was to scour ebay and buy a set of the old style clips with the wheel ajustment. used these things for years without problems.
now, if I only had them for tomorrow.

Anyone ever notice the words "new and improved " don't actually mean that at all?

Aftco is aware of the "new and improved" clips having issues. One of the other boards had contact info for who to talk to. Something about the plastic composition mot being 100% right. The word was you could call Aftco and get the "old and improved" clips or they have rectifiied the new clips and you can get the new style.

Give them a call and see what they say.

I had issues in June, I called, and they very nicely sent me an old style set - no fuss/no bother.
