Well after much deliberation and a lot of research and quite a bit of input from my fellow anglers together with a great last minuet deal, I have settle upon a place to go fish for bones this January.
Christmas Island in the Pacific, reportedly stable weather and tons of bones together with some very large Trevally should make for an interesting trip.
I have read a few articles with regard to flies to use there but I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has fished there and what they found worked for them.
Every location seems to have a fly or two that is a must have, so any input here would be great while I still have time to tie up a few.
Any other information on the fishing there that would help me prepare would be great, which as we all know is definitely part of the fun.
Thanks all

Personally, I have never been to Christmas Island. However, this summer I had a long conversation with an individual who had been. He said the deal with the flies is to have them tied rather sparsely and for skinny water as well as medium-depth. There are deep water fish there, but for my money I would take advantage of all that skinny water Christmas Island has to offer. Apparently, Crazy Charlies and variations are the go-to fly, with a little bit of flash (yellow or orange midge/krystal-flash) and a very sparse amount of bucktail. I asked him about the trevally fishing, and the feeling I got was that you have to really go out with your guide specifically for trevally. He said that they are certainly there, but to be toting around an extra 12 wt wading all day in hopes of stumbling upon one is more trouble than it is worth. Interestingly, he said that some people go there just for the trevally fishing as they can steal the limelight from bonefish.
