Aside from Bluefish Along the Rockaway Is anybody catching an fish ?

Looks pretty nasty today, fri. & sat. Man do I want another shot at albies next week!

I fished last Thursday, 10/25/07 took vacation day in advance, weathermen called for light wind and sunny on Tuesday, Thursday morning I wake up to RAIN & Wind wind out of north at 20 knots with full moon ripping tide, you needed a jig the size of a bowling ball to touch bottom. Managed 11 small schoolie size stripers 15" -- 26" then found some VERY small cocktail blues in a sheltered pocket. Figured I'd try for weakfish by Verrazanno Bridge. TOO WINDY. Had enough and went in. Ahh now comes weekend Rain Saturday and gail winds Sunday. Decided to save the fuel and take Harley out Sunday. One of my Lunatic(#$119) friends had a charter on Saturday in all that rain, they managed several large stripers drifting eels

Don't fish from surf much but haven't been able to get out in boat with these winds last couple of days. Very quiet on north fork beaches until today. Thirty knot winds out of the NW. Fish crashing bait on north facing beaches. Big blues and schoolie bass in first wave off the beach. Also, saw some albies on Sat. about 50 ft. off the beach.

Fished tuesday with Capt. Frank of Finchaser & we had a blast. Fish were up in the Coney rip & over to the Breezy Jetty. Right off the bat we had bass, with my first around 15 pounds on a shad jig. One smaller fish after that & the bluefish took over. We kept moving off the bluefish in search of the bass, and while the bluefish were everywhere, we did locate pods of bass here and there, and continued to pick away at bass from time to time. I released another mid-teens bass that hit a popper, and Frank was connecting with bass & blues on the fly. There are tons of bluefish, but the bass are there too.

The water clarity was awesome - a few times we spotted pods of bass swimming towards us. You could see their stripes from 40 feet!!!

It is on.
