Hi gang,
I just wanted to know what your favorite (one that has actually worked) fly pattern is for False Albacore?
Thanks

Hi --
I like lots of albie patterns. Epoxy flies with rabbit tails are excellent, as are Skok's Mushmouth patterns. My personal favorite is something my friends and I call a Cage Fly. Here's a picture of various sizes, from albie to striper sized. It has a tail of bucktail, with or without flatwing saddles, and a body of shredded flash (like Angel Hair or Ice Wing fiber) tied in clumps and combed to shape. Directions for the fly are in the latest issue of Fly Fishing in Saltwaters Magazine. I'm also attaching a pic of some bay anchovies coughed up by a Montauk albie with a Cage Fly mixed in, as well as an albie who ate one. I'm sure you'll get lots of other good answers. Good Luck -- Jonny King.
