Surf fishing in Dec

The month of Nov is booked solid and I was wondering if surf fishing is a possibility in Dec and for what species. I have never tried surf fishing but it looks fun. I am currently living in New Windsor, NY and if I go I want to fish out of NJ. Maybe there are surf-fishing clubs, I don't know because I am a rookie looking for a mentor.
