This is my final weekend in the water (marina's choice, not mine) and just wondering if anything is happening out east, specifically Montauk. I am getting limited reports and mostly reading about blackfish catches. Some bass in the Shinnecock area, but not hearing much about Montauk. Seems a bit early for things to be over or just waiting for a late herring run. Anyone?? Time is running out for me....
I just don't think too many people have been out. Its been pretty windy most days in the past couple weeks. The herring might be starting to show up, but nothing I've heard about. You'll just have to take a chance I'm afraid . . . if you can get out. Last I looked, the forecast was not ideal for the weekend. I might try to give it a shot on Tuesday or Wednesday.

thanks. Forecast is looking dubious and the temps look nice as well.

fish are here.....but it blew 25-30 out of NW today. It blew last weekend as well. Frustrating. Water temps are still way up, so we should see fish for quite a while.:-%

Last weekend we had excpetional fishing on the southside in Montauk - Mostly smaller sized bass but in big numbers. I'm expecting yet another great weekend, be it on the boat around Montauk or the beaches around Shinnecock which were hot last Monday too.
Don't worry, the Herring run has only just started and were still in for some great fishing. Everything is running a bit behind this year. Now get out there!

CT. side still has fish and temps are still up over here as well. Got this along with 5 others today in a short 3 hour tour. All fish were over 41" and this one was 45.5" 35 lbs. Unfortunately flyfishing was not an option with the 4-6 ft. waves and 20-25 mph. winds. Fish were all taken drifting eels.
