Anyone have any up-to-date information on best choices for airlines in and out of North Eleuthera airport for 08. Am especially interested in recent 07 experience as airlines and flights change often, Have used BahamasAir out of NAS for many years and last March I used Lynx Air out of FLL on recommendation of friends. Anyone used any other connection recently like Continental out of FL? Southern Air? Or others? I'm not tied to any single US departure location yet and have used ATL, MCO, FLL, and MIA in past and can easily route through any of them again.
Thanks for any help.

I've had good success flying JetBlue to Nassau and Southern Air to Gov. Harbor. No delays or lost luggage. We overnight in Nassau between connections.
But....
The customs out of Nassau going home is a real mess and took us 2 hours last summer.... plan accordingly.

When I went to the Big "E" a couple of years ago, I flew from Bangor to Philly to NAS and then Southern Air to Governour's. I left Bangor at 6:30 am and I was fishing by 6PM. Easiest trip in a long time. Paid for it upon arriving home ro frozen pipes though.--124-3

Sounds like two votes for Southern Air. Worth looking into. Jim, were you happy with your stay-over choice in Nassau? And yes, customs in NAS is always a bear on the return.

When we were there it was a family vacation for 2 weeks. The stay over in Nassau makes things easier and more relaxed for us. A good transition to Island mode. ;)
We stay at the Orange Hill Inn near the airport. Although not luxury, it is clean and pleasant and the proprietors are great folks. Pool and ocean beach. :-%
Hope to get back next year. :)

I was able to avoid the stay over in Nassau. The trip out of Nassau s%^&ed; especially as I was somewhat underthe weather from:-%. My roundtrip (2006) was $749.00 including southern air from Bangor.--127-3-

You can call Christina @ 1-954-359-0380
They are Island Express Airline ... they fly out of Ft. Lauderdale directly to the out islands ... no need to transfer in Nassau!

It's not gulf air...it's gulfstream international and they have schedules to N E out of Fll

I've flown with Southern Air twice out of Nassau, and Continental out of FLL 3 times. Both were pleasent experiences with no issues...although the Southern Air counter in Nassau seems very unorganized and I've heard of non-native Bahamians having their bags left behind in order to allow Islanders to go "overweight" with their meat coolers.
Best regards,
Henry

Jim, Henry, and all others,
Thanks for the updates. I'll post anything worthwhile that I learn as I make arrangements and on my return.
