Does anyone have any experience fishing specifically for Jacks on Andros Island (or similar destinations in the Bahamas that might transfer over to Andros) The few we've caught at night in an undisclosed location under the lights were a blast and if there was a way to target them more during daylight hours we'd do it.
Do you search out certain habitat ie deeper channels, or blind cast across deeper flats to the coral heads that sort of thing. And you using minnow imitations or poppers?
We get so caught up in chasing bones and cuda that I often wonder how much we are actually missing.

Spiral,
I have caught Jacks on Sandy Point, Abacos(the Govt Bridge) and the Bridge over Fresh Creek in Andros. Jacks are not usually the targeted species and we have only done it at night to pass the time. On the flats there are usually the smaller skip jacks that hang out with the bonefish schools.
I've noticed that the bigger Jacks are generally school fish, usually in deeper water. I live on Tampa Bay and they come into the canals like packs of wolves. When the hit the water erupts. I throw anything that looks like a glass minnow and hold on.
The small "gummy" minnow is lethal or a white marabou fly with flash (they arent picky).
Find a blue hole on Andros and they can be filled with jacks.

Fuego,
I hear you on the night thing as I've done it at Fresh Creek too. I've always wondered when I'm tooling around if blind casting just off some of the ocean flats would be worth it with poppers or streamers, you know the deeper pockets you'd normally just run over with a boat to go find bonefish.

sure you are not fishing the lites at hank's or fishing for something else at hank's on a friday nite...try the lites at the base if you are from there or the lighthouse...if hank's don't waste your time on JCs try for tarpon..

Nice one, very nice. I've fished Hanks, caught a Hanky Panky or four, gone for the tarpon when they are in. Tarpon41 I sent you a PM today through this site, look for it.
