Influx of Red Tide between Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach has pushed lots of fishermen down to the Satellite Beach - Sebastian Inlet area.

Surf fishing has been on and off. One day great and the next slooow. Still some good catches of Pompano and Whiting from Melbourne Beach and Wabasso beach - north and south of the inlet. While Sand Fleas are the most popular bait for Pompano, in this area they are scarce and fresh sea clams seem to be the bait of choice. I had fresh Pompano for supper tonight and have to say it is my all-time favorite fish to eat.

The inlet itself has been giving up some nice catches of Redfish and Snook - many over the limit. Snook season on the Atlantic coast ends at 12 AM on DEc. 15. The big news at the inlet is the numbers of Flounder being taken on every tide - some in the 10-12 pound range.

Fishing in the Indian River Lagoon from Melbourne bridge to Wabasso Bridge has been improving almost daily. Trout, Jacks, Snook and Redfish continue to smash schools of Mullett migrating south. Night fishing for Snook around lighted piers, floats and canals has come into its own.

Went again this morning at Ponce deLoon Beach. Three Pompano and the largest was almost 25", two Whiting and a bunch of catfish and blues.

Pretty Good fishing and that Big Pompano left me with almost 3 lbs. of fillets to eat and freeze.

Sebastion Inlet continues to produce both Redfish and snook on the high side of their slot limits.

The IRL is giving up considtantly good catches of Snook, Reds and Trout with an occasional Jack - all on the high end of the limits. Consistant fly has been a 4" White (polar bear) Deceiver fished in the film.

Snook season ended today. Opens again on January 31st.

Whiting AuGratin for supper tonight.
