Saturday 12-15-07 Pretty darn COLD out! ( Had to clear ice and snow from boat (#$119)(#$119)) Forecast was for light winds before the BIG Nor'Easter on Sunday. Headed out, first and only stop Verrazanno Bridge SUPER HOT AGAIN!!!!!! In 20 years NEVER saw fish hang around for 2 weeks straight like this!!! Birds working like MAD, fish jumping right out of water. Lasted till I left em' biting as it got dark! The only downside (besides the frost bitten fingers ) was they were mostly small 15" --- 26" Striped Bass. Back by popular demand:brow I made a few videos and took a few pics! Check out the bird action video! Just mind blowing!

That is beautiful! I wanted to go, but I was up late at the FCA Christmas party the night before :( It looks like I might be able to squeeze in a couple of afternoon trips this week - just don't tell my wife --123-3

I'm surprised the coasties didn't bother you - maybe it was too cold for them to come out for a crazy fisherman. --125-3

I was out with Finchaser Friday, and while we didn't locate the tuna, the bass were thick all around Breezy and east past Riis Park. I caught this really nice ice-fish, and Santa hooked-up with some bass on the fly.

Thanks for the report

As usual, great pics and videos! The birds there have been something else. Last year the fish were there but rarely did you see birds. Lately, every time I go they are there. Hopefully I make it out this week- let that wind die down a little first. Looks like Santa is a diehard too!

I was out with John McMurray on Sat. As we drove by the bridge we saw all the birds. We went out around Breezy and had the same action. Loads of small fish, and lots of ice cold fun.

Great videos.

Took a friend out today that couldn't believe we were catching so many fish. Left at 10 and had to be back in by noon. I said "don't worry- that's plenty of time." Well, now I look like an a$$. Got to the "secret spot" and wouldn't you know it - the water wasn't moving AT ALL! I know what that means, but others just don't understand. "Give it an hour to start coming in," but we didn't have time. Not even a bump! Bounced around inside on the way in, with the same results! My first official skunking. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonitght. Tomorrow's another day and I'll try to redeem myself! Water temps dropped to 40 - 41 degrees.

Relocator, I'm sure you will redeem yourself!! I have the same problem, everytime I take someone new out, its always the slowest day of the year! I'm sure tide would have made all the difference. Got the bugs "I Hope" out of my E-Tec Engine, so Saturday, weather permitting, I'll give it a try again. Once Temps hit that magic 39 degrees, the action slows alot. last year I hammered them til mid January. So much for Global Warming!!!! Geeze the skunk word, yuck!:brow

I was out for a few hours this morning - not much to show for it. Quiet around Coney Island & Breezy Point. I found one small pod of bass on the sounder and caught a few, but that was it. Headed to the VZ and came up empty there. Water was 40 degrees.

Had every intention of getting out in the AM, but wound up being to busy. Shot out with my father from 1:30 til 3 and another slow trip. Nice incoming rip at the bridge with just a half dozen schoolies to show for it. I am WAY too spoiled after all the action this past month- if we don't have a fish on in the first 2 minutes, I'm losing it! Water temp was 42. See what tomorrow brings. First Cast- I guess I didn't miss much! That water was like glass though!
