I found this post on a surf fishing site. It describes an incident where a boat got destroyed at the point in Montauk and how the person found a RL Winston rod with a Billy Pate reel. Thought somebody here may know more or is actually missing that set up. It's definitely in the wrong hands now.

LONG STORY BUT
2-3 seasons ago, surfcasting montauk, myself, brother and his friend out at caswells when we see a 20 foot carolina skiff flip over...2 fisherman on board fly into the water ...they we rescued by other boats...within 20 minutes the boat(upside down) floats within 20 yards of myself...we spent the next 20minutes picking up all this idiots gear...7-8 fly poles, tackle bags , dry bag with cell phone,wallet with over $300 dollar cash,credit cards...assorted electronics..had to be over $5-6,000 of gear...put everything into their cooler...my bro' said to leave it there , guys most likely a jerk
i thought it would be right to carry to the light house and leave with the authorities...well, the jerk showed up, rifled thru his stuff, looking to see what we stole...never a thanx, offer of reward(WHICH WE WOULD HAVE REFUSED) nothing..afterwards, i looked at my brother and said maybe we should have left it there...idiot left the boat there too , never salvaged it

a billy pate reel attached to a 4 pc rl rl winston fly pole..have not fished it yet, but i here it's a nice set up
