Striper fishing definately slowed up! Hit the Verrazanno bridge NOTHING, not even a hit! Search around, and worked hard, tide & full moon had alot to do with it. Hit all my local spots several times, finally just before I was ready to give up for the day, had about a 1 hour striper blitz, no birds just finesse fishing. landed about 18 stripers, nice ones though 12" rats to 26" & 29". Water temps were between 41 -- 43 degrees. here's a pic of largest of the day. Thinking about packing it in for season.

Last week's blow really did some damage! You must've been in panic mode until you found that pile of fish- couple of nice ones too! Last wed. I bounced all around inside for not even a mark. Hope to make it out again before we pull the boat for the year. Looking back, we have to figure out how to take the entire month of November off- fish on the calm days, bowhunt the windy ones! Nice job and happy holidays, when I make it out again, Ill post a report.

My brother was up from Florida for the holidays (he's in the Coast Guard stationed in Marathon!), so I decided to take him out and try to rustle up a few stripers. He experienced last year's late season mayhem and was hearing me talk about the silly action, so he was ready to roll. Well, I wish I had good news. Went out from 1 til 4 with only a couple of hits by the bridge! Bounced around inside first for nada, hit the bridge for a while, few bumps, lost 2, nothing on the screen at all, then hit a bunch of spots inside again for nothing to show for it. The water was ripping hard everywhere we went and LOTS of wood around. Like cruising through a minefield! Water temp was 41- 42. Might be able to muster up one more trip before we pull it. Happy Holidays and good luck to anyone else crazy enough to give it another shot!

There been reports of Blackfishing Boats returning from 17 Fathoms finding school bass around the head of Ambrose Channel. Last January we ran into breaking Bass returning from a bottom fish trip. The blitz lasted only 30 minutes but they were large fish to 32 inches. ( Released)
Its pretty much a crap shoot trying to find them out there this time of year. Its a big ocean but w/ milder temp they still might be around.
I'm HIGH & DRY till the Spring
Happy New Year

Went out yesterday at 11:30 direct to Breezy and found acres of birds South and East and along the beach. Steady pick for 2 hours and left them biting. All fish caught on on white bass assassins and tins with feathers. I believe this was the long awaited herring run. There was not 1 bass bigger than 24". Last 4 times out all schoolies so decided to shut down for the Winter and wait until April. Happy Holidays to all.
