I'm looking at a 21 Contender for all around use and occasionally 10-15 Miles offshore. Heres my question: Given the same price would buy a brand new hull with a 150 Merc optimax (both 07) or 1999-2002 boat and motor with a Yamaha 200HP or more. I'm guessing the hours would be 400-600 on older motor. Any input on the fishing/riding performance of these boats? Thanks in advance!

If I read your post correctly, the choice of new or 6-9 year old boat and motor for the same price is a no brainer. The Opti is the best dfi on the market and I would think the warranty has expired on the Yammies.

Tough to understand the question. Same money? Buy the new boat. I love my 21' Contender. Here is what I do not like about the boat. The gas cap is placed at an awkward angle on the transom. It makes gassing up twice as long. The boat is not the best in the rips. I have installed a seperate pump for the livewell, as it is below decks, and below the water line.
Otherwise this boat sips fuel, (200 HPDI), tops at 46mph. She runs like a dream. Hoping wifey lets me upgrade to the 25', but baby #1 is on its way.
Happy Holidays
