So who's headed for the Big E this spring? I'll be there Feb 6-21. Seems there's always at least one RTer there.

Hi catspaw,
I might be there as well. Im doing some "island jumping" during feb and march, but not yet finally decided where to put my effort. It would be much easier if there were only fewer islands to choose from :) Im currently working my way through "The Bahamas Fly Fishing Guide" trying to narrow down the best suited destination for me (back-packing with my fly rods). Would you know if there are any cheap, dirtbag motel-like accomodations on Eleuthera? If such exists, they dont spend much time on sharing information online (#$119)

Where are you staying? Guided fishing or DIY?

Cheers,
-Lars

I'll be renting a house on Double Bay, definately not cheap but the beach is spectacular, occaional bones, cuda, shark, cobia out in front of the house. The Duck Inn or Unique Village may be less expensive than others, either way you'll need a car to get to flats other than those right out front of where you're staying. I'll be DIYing.

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum but I can already see there is a wealth if information here. We are going to Eleuthera for the first time this year from late May into June and I wanted to see if others have fished this time of year and if so what to expect weatherwise and fish wise. Are the bonefish more prevelant this early summertime than in the winter? We will most likely be DIY but may look up a guide one day to help us acclimate to the area. Anyone have any recommendations for a guide?

Thanks,
MdAngler

I'll be there from 3/26 to 4/3. Looks like I'll just miss you. But we should talk when you get back!

The stars have finally aligned and it looks like I'll be there for a couple weeks again, likely Apr 9 to 23. Planning to stay at the Duck Inn as usual.

Well the fish are still tough. I didn't get to the southern end at all, a front came through when the tides were good down there and it blew 30 for three days. The weather and the water was very warm, I didn't see any large fish. The schools of small fish I Gov. Harbour, Ten Bay and Balara bay were catchable. Of course the largest fish were in Savanah, we all know how tough they can be, I did manage a few from there. I've heard the Hatians have started netting some areas for food. The resident stupid school from Tarpum bay was not in attendance, I fear their table fare. Good luck, let me know how you made out. Friday fish fry--127-3-
