All right guys, now that i told you all about not buying my Fatherin-law's boat--I have a bug.
Like I said I may still buy it if he lowers the price or fixes all the broken stuff, but no matter what happens the entire situation has given me the itch.
Give me your opinions--best used flats boat/ skiff in the 18' nieghborhood to look for under 10k. Give me opinions on OB's too. What do you like, Yam's, Merk, OMC stuff--what and why? Thanks bunches--Collard

Either a Hewes or a Hewes for the boat.
Where will you be fishing it, and how shallow (how extremely shallow)? Under $10K and very shallow, a used Pathfinder 17T is hard to beat. If you're fishing the NE in 1.5 to 2 ft of water, look for a used Hewes or Mako.

I have a 1996 18' Hewes Redfisher with a 130 hp Yamaha which I purchased new in 1997. It's a great all around boat. It's not as easy to pole as some of the new technical skiffs but its not really hard to pole. It's a great rough water boat, has loads of storage and has an 8" to 10" draft. My engine runs as well as it did when it was new and has never needed any thing other then new plugs and filters. A good used one about the age of mine should cost about $10,000.
Google Maverick boats ( they build Maverick, Hewes and Pathfinder boats) and check out thier forms. Tons of info posted by boat owners and a used boats for sale form.
Good luck
Dan
