I haven't had much to say recently since none of my anglers have been fly fishers.. All that's changing now but there's some really good night time fly fishing for tarpon locally that needs to be noticed... From now until the end of April there will be great action every night with small tarpon locally between Miami and Miami Beach around docklights and bridges. These "babies" will be between 20 and 40lbs with a few a lot larger... We'll be fishing them with 8 or 9wt rods and they're perfect for that first tarpon on fly or just for someone that wants great action but can't devote a full day. We've had our first shrimp runs and once the shrimp start moving it will be happening every night when the tide is right (early evening starts will be possible 8 to 10 days each month. Other nights we might have to start at some really strange times to catch the tide, I don't mind starting at midnight but there don't seem to be many anglers that have that freedom.... On nights when we start early we'll be back at the dock just about when the night life gets going on south Beach... The best part is that all of the action will be sightfishing with tarpon right at the surface feeding on shrimp. Tarpon Heaven, my first booking for them will be this weekend.
