Long time NE Reel-Timer coming to Tresure Island (thanks to my dad) the first week in March. We will be staying right next to a place called Land's End toward the southern end of Treasure Island. I don't walk so well and my dad is a low key fishermen so we have some limitations. But I plan to fish every morning and night in the surf/canals - and advice on what to expect (and use - both spin and fly) right there on Treasure Island?

I've read there are spots for wade fishing access in Tampa Bay but I'm wondering what the bottom is like? If it's firm I'd be OK if I didn't have to go all that far. Any ideas?

We are also considering hiring a guide for an inshore trip - I'm figuring that would end up being in Tampa Bay(?). I'd appreciate some sincere feedback or recommendation on any guides you've used in the area. I'd think we'd fare better with a more laid back type of guide than a 'screamer' - I'd rather miss a fish or two in exhange for just having a good time out on the water.

Thank you very much for your time, guys. I look forward to heading to the Sunshine State.

Hi Dave,
I lived in Clearwater (which is located just north of treasure Island)for 6 years. Had some awesome fishing there...I strongly urge you to get in contact with Capt. Rich Knox www.captrichknox.com or Capt. Ed Walker www.lighttacklecharters.com
These guys have been fixtures in the Tampa Bay area for ever
you wont go wrong with either of these veteran guides

Best of luck, Capt. George Harris

P.S. spend some time around John's Pass at the north end of Treasure Island....I done very well there when the tide gets cooking (either way)

Mum,
If you find some decent shore angling please pass it along, I am in Seminole for the week and really want to get something on the end of my line. I will do the same if I find some spots.
