Not a good day

Went out to stiltsville this AM and not only didn't I see any bonefish, I broke my flyrod at the ferule. A new one is ordered, but it won't come with bonefish. However it was a beautiful day, cool dry and with great visibility. I couldn't tear myself away and stayed out until almost dark.

you were about 3 miles off from killer bonefish sorry to say...just kidding with you;) bummer about the rod...was it from casting while it was coming apart? that has happened to me and the tip went flying and when I got it back the ferrule was cracked...I now have come to realign my rod every few cast as a precaution because of my casting style

Yes it was from my super powerfull casting stroke. I had just brought a small cuda to the boat and he snipped the tippet while I was lifting him in. I retied, put on a new fly and on the first cast --CRACK. I didn't check the alignmentand it broke about 3/4 inch of the ferule. That's how short it was in. I rebuilt the ferule and reshaped the male end so now I have an 8foot, 11 and one fourth inch 9 weight. I don't know if it will hold up but the new one is on the way.

been there before my friend...was thinking about that today myself and checked every 7 or 8 cast
