Caught this one about an hour ago. Still out of season and all most all the ones in the canals in upper Tampa bay are small 21", but still fun. This one was beaten up by the resident porpoise. I released him to be porpoise food.

The water is starting to warm up, I normally leave snook alone in the winter but this one beat out the trout for the fly.

My buddy Bonz on this list called 10 minutes earlier from New Jersey to discuss tying flies on size 16 hooks and plan our Grand Bahama trip in May. Ahhh....I love Florida. sorry if I am rubbing it in Bonz. Enjoy the rest of your winter, the snook will still be here when we meet in March.

Encindido,

What - you think you were the only one having fun last night?!!! - right about the time you landed that fish - I was looking at a sweet at a 750.00 electric bill from last month thinking man the NE is awesome. If you can’t see the beauty of living in a cold environment, that’s overcast from December to April, where the fish prefer flies that you can’t see without a magnifying glass…on second thought this place does suck! Please have a cold Kalik waiting for me at the airport.

I am going to be in Seminole in 2 weeks. Any suggestions for hitting fish like that, or the trout, from the shore? Also, patterns?

here are my top three night dock light flies.Very easy to tie, just pearl sparkle braid, dome eyes, and either tan near hair, gray buck tail or white artic fox hair. The gray is is tied hook up to decrease the inevitable dock snags. #2 hooks. I epoxy the eyes on and coat them. The pictured fish was caught on the gray one.

Near Seminole there is the BayPines VA park and a boat ramp toward the beach.
