Looking to upgrade to a color fishfinder looking at Furuno fcv620 or Raymarine ds600. Looking for a easy to use unit mostly stripper fishing Buzzards Bay and a bout a dozen trips a year off shore and to the bank for tuna.Currently using a combo lowrance unit but it's seen better days . Does anyone have any experience with either unit or any other suggestions? Tanks Scott

Scott,
I ran a new Furuno FCV620 last year. My buddy has a Ray ds500 (same electronics as the 600, just a smaller screen). Both units work well and when adjusted properly, clearly show bait and fish. I prefer Furuno, not just because it's on my boat. I like the menus and dials better. Can't go wrong with either unit.

I was in simillar shoes as you, and made some simillar posts, and got simillar replies. Not a lot of responses... Best thing is to search the forums, there is lots of greats info here on the different options. Good and Bad. I ended up getting the Furuno 620, and am very happy with it. Your budget and usage would be good to know as well. Also spend time reviewing your different tranducer options. I'd share more but I am newbie in the electronics area, and don't want to steer you the wrong way....

I have the Furuno unit and have had it for 7 seasons now.
No problems. The only concern is if you have it in the sun the CRT gets washed out.
