Has anyone stayed recently at the Pines on Sysladobsis Lake, in Washington County, Maine? I was there in '96 with my father and had a great time. I am thinking about going back in June this year with my father, my son, 2 nephews and a brother in law.
Any info/advice about the Lodge, or the area, in mid-June? (I know about the blackflies). We'll be fishing for smallies, mostly. Thanks!

I'm not sure that the lodge is still open but its a great area to fish. The salmon have come back in much better size now that they stock the area with fewer fish.I like upper Dobsis for the smallies and don't miss giving Junior Lake atry you won't be disappointed. The only thing is you have to time things perfect to get them on the beds.

Junior Lake is awesome fishing. As with all of the lakes up there you have to be careful of rocks but they make for really great habitat. Doesn't get much better than being able to see 20 or more feet to the bottom and the bass on its bed getting po'd with your lure. The hardest part of that lake is driving by these real fishy spots cause you know there's a better one up the lake more. There are a lot of what our kids called "boat cushions" (nose to tail fork fit diagonally across the cushion) there that make for lots of fun.
