transom tuffner

Anyone have any experience with these? Do they really help at all? I have a transom that's generally solid but has a few minor soft spots. Thinking about putting one on, but seems like it wouldn't do very much from looking at a picture of it.

This device is for installing an outboard. It adds strength between the bolts of the engine through the transom. If you have softs spots out side of where the outboard is you would be better off trying to inject some resin or grind out the soft spot and fill it with polyfair or hull deck putty then sand and paint the finish.
