Could we start a thread that lists on-line sites that show popular SW patterns with or without detailed directions? Sounds like there's building interest in tying amoung the R/T bretheren....

Thanks for the rolling start ssully. Now how about one of our more web-literate members telling me how I can compile all these links into one master list that we can archive for quick reference?

<FONT color=black face=Verdana,Geneva size=2>Bob Pink- I tried making just one posting but it didn't go so I did this way just to help out. One site is freshwater but the smelt patterns are good in Southern RI early in the spring. There maybe one site that won't come in I couldn't access it the other day. rel</FONT>

I have some patterns and detailed directions on how to tye them on my website. As we get closer to the beginning of the season I will have more available. One thing I encourage on my site is for users to submit their own fly patterns and I will post with pic and directions and a summary of why this fly is important to the submitter. Somebody posted my old url but here is the new one...

An excellent idea! I have been skimming websites...just doing searches for certain fly tyers....Dan Blanton, Enrico Puglisi, etc.
This morning on ESPN2, there was a show on stiper fishing the Westport River. During the show, they did a piece on Enrico Puglisi. They displayed his booth at a show. What an artist!

Bob,
I've been away from this thread but would like a list.
Anyone compiling them?

This is missing one site from the posts thru the above site but it does have the others. I can't vouch for which ones are still active since I haven't visited quite a few of them. Enjoy.

So much water, so little time...
A caution about my previous posting of the compiled sites:
I could only get into the ones preceeded by http or www.
Another site - a really excellent one on streamers, though focussed on fresh water:
http://globalflyfisher.com/streamers/index.html
The above site links to its host site which does have salt water flies.

I came in a little late on these threads and am pleased at all the info. I am looking for the grocery fly pattern and will try some of the sites. Have any of you seen Jack Gartside's patterns tied with his GSS (Gartside's secret stuff). It looks great so I am trying some in sand eels and in deceivers. I'll let you know if it works. Thanks for all the good info. Bogs

If you want, you can ask Jack in person if you live within driving distance of Burlington, MA. I believe Jack will be the speaker at the next United Fly Tyers meeting on March 6 or you can call him.
If you search on Alta Vista under "Jack Gartside," you can get a phone number for him that is on a Rolling Rocks page. (I just can't bring myself to give out someone's number directly.) He is pretty approachable, so I suspect he wouldn't mind the call, especially if you ordered some material.
However, I'm not sure and my recollection of seeing it in a magazine article is hazy, but I think Lefty Kreh created the "grocery fly." I didn't see it listed in the recipe books by Jack; however, it could be a new one I haven't seen.
Good Luck,
boba

SSULLY gave this address:
RE: Recomended sites for SW patterns
Great Idea Bob! I'll post all that I have.
http://noreast.com/fly/patterns/patterns.htm
For some reason the webmaster decided to end the address for that page in "cfm". The convention of "htm" wasn't doing it. Here's the corrected address
http://www.noreast.com/fly/patterns/patterns.cfm
Looks like there is some interesting stuff.
