I plan on staying up in one of the White mt. huts this spring with the family.
I understand the lake is stocked.

Is this a C&R fishery? Are brooks good to eat?

Thanks

If you're asking about Lonesome Lake, yes, it's stocked with brookies, which are good eating, especially after they've been in the lake for a while.

If they're native, put 'em back.

If they're stocked, feel free to eat 'em. Generally, waters are stocked that can't sustain a naturally reproducing population anyway, either because winter or summer conditions are too extreme, or there are no suitable spawning grounds, or because the natural population can't survive customary fishing pressure. Fishery managers call the policy "put and take".

You can find out from the state fish & wildlife dept (or whatever the name for it is in NH) how they manage the lake where you will be.
