With my brother having such a hard time living up in the Moosehead lake region, I thought I would post a bit of good news. He recently landed a 2.78lb salmon through the ice up on Moosehead lake. In the early part of the season he entered a tournament for (I believe it might be just the residents of Roockwood Maine?) the biggest Salmon, Brooktrout, and Lake Trout through the ice from Moosehead lake. This large salmon was weighed in and put him back in first place heading into the final weekend of the Moosehead Lake annual season long ice fishing tournament. the tournament ended on March 31st and he was crowned the with 1st place in Salmon (I think he won 150$ too).
Very proud of my brother who keeps having a difficult time with housing and paying any sort of bills on 9$ an hour and reduced to 30 hrs a week.
It just shows that all the scraping by can net you a very nice reward if you put your time in up there. Ice fishing up in the north woods can be very rewarding, especially with 2.78lb Land Locked Salmon coming through the ice!
If I had a picture I would post one. But as far as I know he doesn't have one.
