I just looked at my tide chart and saturday is the new moon. What are the effects of a new moon tide early in the spring? Will this bring the herring into the runs? Will it help to get the bass on the move north or make them go faster? I'm not looking for scientific answers as much as insight as to whether I should take a shot at my early season spot sunday.

I believe it will result in all of the above and - get the juices of anticipation and expectation flowing in most serious fishermen along the northwest atlantic coast.

I think the correct water temps are more important right now than the tides.

:rolleyes:I agree with Ray...

The New Moon this weeks means it will be dark at night, and the tides
will be a little stronger.

The water is still ridiculously cold for us north of the cape:

for those south....I'm jealous!!

The moon phase and the tides are perfect for my early spring spot this weekend. IT's THE DAMN RAIN thats going to shut things right down! The water needs to warm up and clean up and all this rain will not allow that to happen!

I'm still going anyways
