Fished for 45 minutes last night on a local stocked creek before picking up kids.
I tried a parachute BWO (old reliable), scud, cone head olive bugger, and another typically reliable streamer....and no takers--124-3.
There were midges around but I didn't have any on me. No surface activity yet though.
It gets worse, two guys with spinners were slaying them. Very frustrating.
I believe the fish were stocked only a few days ago.

Sounds like ideal conditions for a Mickey Finn or Royal Coachman bucktail, with a little leaf spinner above the nose and a garden worm trailing off the end.

That's the way my wily old father-in-law, with his Shakespeare Wonderod and Martin automatic reel, would have fished the early spring stocking, anyway.

Either that or the ever trustworthy pellet fly.
