Last Sunday I dragged the kayak over to a pond in Metrowest area. I stuck with my summer time method of unweighted jelly worms near the surface. I love to see the take. To my surprise the bass and pickerel were up in the shallows and hungry. I caught 11 bass and 7 pickerel in 2-3 hours ... better than average outing for me. Cold fingers by the end, but glad I got out. Two of the bass were over 4lbs and the biggest was prob 5lbs.

The turtles were active too ... floated over a really big snapper in 3 ft of water.
Nice to be out fishing again.

nice day! the bass get up in the shallows asap after ice out, looking for the warmest water they can find. early spring is a great time to catch very large bass. Most fisherman start fishing about 4 weeks after the fish are there to be caught.
Im dying to get out, but havent had the time.

Thanks guys ... the local pond visit is all I can fit in with kids practice and all sorts of stuff going on. Still is a nice peaceful getaway.

I'm ready to get out again ...
Mike, I'll give you a ring next time I'm heading out.
