Hey there,

Browsing your forum I've seen that you guys use Cabos a lot in the US. So, I have three questions that you might help me with:

1) Is it possible to use a Cabo 60PT spool on a 50PT? On paper the 60PT and the 50PT seem to have the same body...

2) I'm a bit confused about model reference numbers. I've seen on the web 50 and 60 models referenced as:
- Cabo CSP50PTs and CSP60PTs (which I think are the official US model numbers)
- Cabo 950 and 960 (found in France and UK)
- Energy Cabo 750 and 760 (found in Italy)
Does anybody know if they are all the same?

3) Any tropical experience with the 50-60? (Tarpons, cuberas and Giant Trevally are my main interests...)

Many thanks for your replies, and ciao to everybody!!!

:)

I don't know about the model comparisons but the reels are very good and have a great drag. The 60 should be perfect for Trev, Tarpon and pretty much everything. I use a couple of 60's and 40's for charter customers that I am afraid to let use my Accurate Twinspins. They are very smooth but a little delicate for chartering. I would recommend them for recreational/personal use though.

Have had good service with them in the past but I am not so sure about the new service center. have heard negative experiences that you should look into further.

Hope that helps.

The 30/40 spools are interchangable and the 50/60 spools are interchangable. Since the 50 and 60 are essentially the same reel with different spools (hence different line capacities), it only makes sense to buy the 60 for the additional line capacity...

Good advice from Capt. Chris and Albacised.

I've bgeen fisihing my Cabo 60 with 50 lb. test PowerPro braid for six years - This past year in Florida. I've taken a number of baby Tarpon in the 35-75 lb. range along with some large Redfish, Snook and King Mackerel. I was on Cape Cod before I moved here and the reel landed a number of 30 and 40 lb. Striped Bass.

It's a great reel and I've experienced no problems wth it. Just keep it washed in fresh water and send it back to the company every couple years to have it cleaned and checked to keep your warranty in force.
