Anybody try this rod? What are your thoughts on it as a salt water rod?

My son has BIIMX and we both really like it. He also has a BIIX (which is a great flats rod) and I have an XTR. It definitely has more spine than the BIIX and is a touch faster than the BIIX. Very smooth loading/unloading. It is not as fast or have as much spine as the XTR. The BIIMX is likely the best all around rod of the BIIX, XTR, and BIIMX trio.
If say Joe goes out one day never to return and I return with his rod, would that be considered suspicious?

I'm in total agreement with dlangan! The MX was designed to be a tad beefier than the IIx, but not as stiff as the older XTR's. The MX also has a larger reel seat hardware.
I've fished exclusively with the IIx's for a few years, (3w - 12w), but now the MX is my choice for local stuff.
For bones, you can't beat the IIx. Super light, but strong and responsive.
If you are a more "aggressive" caster, you'll like the MX better than the IIx.
