I heading there this weekend, Ive never fished it before but hear its very good. anyone familiar with the lake? Im trying to decide where to fish, Im thinking I will put in to the middle lake- the one with the launch and beach right on rt 30- at the rt 30 ramp and fish there. can you get into the upper lake from that one?
thanks guys, any tips like what areas to focus on etc are greatly appriciated, PM me if you like.

I have only fished there twice ... so I don't have much info to offer.
Yes, there is a tunnel to get you back under rt 30 and into the upper lake. Big enough for power boats.
The area between the ramp and the upper lake is the only area I had sucess with the warm water stuff. You know they stock the cold water species pretty good in there. I don't ussually have the patience to drift shiners, but I always that would be good place to try it .. maybe find one of those salmon they put in there.
Good luck

I would go to the mass wildlife site and look at the pond map. I havent fished there much as I usually just waterski in the lake on the other side of route 9. My boat barely fits through the indian bridge so if you are planning to go through be careful. Also under the bridges it is pretty shallow. I have picked up a few fish but never spent more than a half hour. if you have a bigger boat use the section of ramp closer to the boathouse as it drops off faster but watch the end of the ramp, I have seen a few people drop their trailers over the edge. Good luck.
One more thought, check out the area near the indian bridge as there is alot of timber and calm water. I have seen a few fish taken there.

no, the indian bridge is on the far side from the launch. It has a railroad track going over it and is made of stone it leads into an unnamed pond an then there is another bridge into the south pond. here is a link to the pond map.http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pdf/dfwcoch.pdf

well, we went today, put in about 3 hours in the afternoon. loads of pickerel, and a few bass as well, nothing huge, but steady action.
very interesting lake. if the weather hadnt turned ugly Im sure we'd have gotten more bass, the ones we caught were tough to find and tought to get to eat. gotta try a buzzbait inthere over all that millfoil....

nope, my wife bailed, too cold for her, so me and john, the guy whose boat I run in the summer, went out. we fished pretty evenly, although I caught all the bass. He is officially the pickerel king. He did get one pickerel that was a fat 2 footer, must have been close to 4 pounds. It was by far the biggest fish of the day, the bass were all 1-2 lbs.
