just a note
Recently posted a question about protecting a wooden deck and ended up with this guys website epoxyproducts.com and chatted with him for a while. Very knowledgeable and friendly. He mentioned he sells a lot of hydrophobic fumed silica to fly fisherman. My brother the fly fanatic tried it and said it works good and it is lots cheaper too!! here is a link to the page http://www.epoxyproducts.com/2_fillers.html I have no connection to this business and if this is out of bounds feel free to flag or delete this post. Thanks Marty

I'll use this opportunity to make my first post since I (for once) might be able to offer something useful.

I have ordered fumed silica from this site. It is the same stuff as Frog's Fanny dry fly floatant. You get a pound (WHICH IS A LOT!!) for about the same price as a tiny bottle of the Frog's Fanny. I actually bought the Frog's Fanny too just so I would have a convenient dispenser.
