I went by there yesterday and the pond side was almost dry while the tide was almost high! Unbelievable. So I assume the outgoing was nill also. I am not sure about today.
I called someone in the know to find out why, and am waiting for a return call.
I see no construction going on, so I am going to pursue this issue. They do this off and on, with no good reason, that I can see. Last yr. I called our councilor for an explanation, and he suggested I call city hall. HELLO, that's what I called him for! Great.
I may be wrong, but with no flow coming into the inside of the bridge, wouldn't that be detrimental to the marine life that thrives on the revolving tide cycle?
I will keep this issue posted if there is any pertinant info, as I only live 5 min. from the creek.
If no flow tomorrow, find a marsh in Quincy Wey. area and you will find fish!
Between Metro and Braintree yacht club off the marsh is definitly worth a shot.

I was there last night from 6-10. I got one right after high, at about 6:30. I was joined by another guy at about 8 who got three in quick order on a gurgler. I then switched to a gurgler as it got dark. The fish were slamming what were most likely sand eels all along the creek and private beach shore, literally dozens.

Awesome, my friend and I may be out there tonight depending on the crappy weather we are expected to have. Maybe well see you out there.

Spoke to one of the top guys in marsh land conservation today about the gates. They have to close them when the tides are very high due to basements flooding up around the area of the armory, and they have to do it when there is no flow due to the design of the gates. The gates can get damaged when they try to close them while the water is rushing in.
The question I have that he could not answer is, what height of the tide dertermines when they are shut down. I went by there tonight at about 5:30 pm and there was no flow coming into the pond. I know it was almost high tide, but there still should have been water coming in, and the height is only about 9.5-9.7 today, which is certainly not a big tide.
I found out who controlls the gates, and I know him pretty well. So my next step is to talk to him and find out a little more about what height determines the gate control. Maybe I can get him to work with us a little.
I will keep you posted.
Hope this helps everyone that fishes there.
