So with the wheather turning foul for the next several days what do you do?
Per Terry's post it's ON but what do the fish do when it rains and gets ugly outside? Will they just keep going North or hold to ride out the storm and then turn the feedbag on when the rain stops?

Well, the fish already come wet, so I'm not sure the rain changes their plans all that much, esp in the spring. They're on the move, they're hungry, and looking for food.

I melt.

Seriously, I would get out there whenever and wherever you can. The fish have arrived, and not just in one place. I have had some amazing fishing during spring downpours and noreasters.

The cape cod fishing season's too short to let a little rain get in the way!:-%

My sport Kirby and I fished in a legit gale last spring. It was the first time I ever had the cloth on my T top soak through  We were able to stay in close and out of the wind, but the rain was coming down in sheets. We crushed nice bass herding herring all morning. That said I chicken'd out on a 0500 start today because of the rain and wind. I'm sure the fish are there, I just wasn't up for the soaking today.

The darker skies make them much more willing to venture in close. I also believe that rain causes fish to be on the move. Multiple times last year, large schools of larger fish would cruise into the Charles River locks area while it was pouring...pouring...with rain. Me and one other guy were the only ones in sight!

Could care less about rain but it's supposed to blow 25-35MPH on Saturday from the East. I don't know if it puts the fish off but it's close to impossible to flyfish in those conditions. I cancelled my trip this weekend due to the wind forecast. --124-3

Hope to take a few days off next week and head down though. Any one able to fish during the week?

The two best times to fish, as I'm sure just about everyone has heard, is when it's raining and when it isn't.

The worse the weather, the better the fishing (usually) except in February.;)

The all-tackle world record striper was caught from shore on a breakwater in Atlantic City during a hurricane. Certainly a well deserved catch, since the record-setting fisherman must not have had much else going on in his life to choose to be out on a breakwater during a hurricane.(#$119)

having fished the Friday of Juro's clave last year in a legitimate gale (two flags at the Lighthouse in Chatham) by myself ( didn't venture too far out of Stage Harbor) I too am passing on this weekend for little league, if it's not rained out and GLS on Sunday. I figured it was silly to drive 330 miles eacj way to launch a boat in a nor'easter.

I scratched my trip to RI today because of the wind and the 2-4 footers that NOAA forecasted. As an old duck hunter, I don't worry too much about the rain either but seas are a different story.

Tomorrow I try the Merrimack -- Shad arrived about a week ago. I didn't see many marks in the river when I was heading after cod on Tuesday, but we will see.

Anybody had any action in the Merrimack? There were five waders on Joppa Flats Tuesday evening.

Last spring around the 17th of may a huge nor'easter hit and the southside lit up. Blitzes with fish every cast for three days straight! --127-3- So i wouldnt let the weather discourage you.

My father and i will also be around may 16-19th lurking the usual haunts.

my all time best day of schoolie fishing occured on one of those days any rain gear other than grundens or equivalent would have soaked through. pouring rain, wind, cold, the boat landed easily over 100 fish in the few hours out (spare me the statistical analisys --124-3). topwater it was, usually in random spots with 1.5-6 feet of water. and there wasn't another boat to be seen all day.

Caught my first 50 in the POURING rain. It rained so hard it took out my chartplotter which is supposed to be waterproof........(#$119) I love fishing in the rain as long as the seas are reasonable and the wind/cold is tolerable.
