Mooring Grass Flats (Vero Beach) 6/12

Heading to Vero in November and looking to learn about fishing the Mooring Grass Flats. What fish to expect then, how to access in order to wade flats and fly selection. Would like to talk to others who have fished the area.

I've fished the Mooring Flats since 1994 when in Vero from N.J.and must say I've never seen anyone wadeing those flats.
I believe that access is the problem. The huge Mooring Flat complex prevents walking in.
We enter the flats on the east side by boat and drift while blind casting and trying to spot Reds tailing or wakeing.
As for advise on flyfishing, try the Orvis shop on the " Miricle Mile ". I believe the owner is Eric and if remember correctly the shop is called " Back country ". Last fall I purchased several rod from him and was very pleased. I ordered them by phone from my home in N.J. and pick them up when I arrived. I should have the telephone number and correct info somewhere. If you'd like I could dig it up for you.
