Started the morning at the canal. First thing I noticed was every turn off and parking area that allowed access to the canal was loaded with cars. Arrived early dawn, which you canal masters know as a very late start. There was some breaking fish scattered across the canal. I managed several hits on a 9' sluggo but assume they were all small since none managed to inhale enough of the sluggo to get the hook.
Next I hooked up the boat and headed to Barnstable Harbor. Fished the incoming tide, feeling a bit lazy I used the T & W set up. This yielded several fish in the 23"- 29" inch range.
Exchanged the boat for the wife and headed out on to Sandy Neck. The beach looked to be almost maxed out with campers. There was a forest of rods lined up on the beach drowning bait. Did not see any hook up and my surface fishing produced no visiable results.
Decide to surprise the old girl with a sunset at Herring Cove. Water was flat calm. Worked a surface popper until the sun set, again with no signs of life.
We did discover Arnolds was open the weekend until 8:30 so if nothing else, we ate well.
