The fishery south of the islands seems to be declining in recent years and it appears to be a combination of a declining bluefin population and a lack of bait.
However I have heard that yellowfin used to commonly frequent the waters south of the island, and marlin and swordfish use to come close to shore to feed. These fish are not coming inshore anymore and I feel that is because a lack of food for them.

This spring south of the islands there was a tremendous amount of bait south of the island (sand eels, Herring, squid) and there were some very large bluefin tuna feeding and some smaller fish mixed in. Then there were about 20 draggers a day for a month showed up and the bait and fish disappeared. They worked the very small area very hard and ruined the fishery that had developed.

I am wondering:
a) What is wrong with the fishery south of the islands?
b) How can we change it?
c) are the draggers a help to the fishery? or a hinderance?
d) what are the draggers targeting?
