At what point am I getting ripped off? $80, $90, $100/hr?
Need to have a lower unit pressure tested, and possibly seals replaced and want to know what I should be paying someone on an hourly basis to perform this work.

Nelly,
why do you think you are getting ripped off. If you are bringing it to a reputable dealer he has done his home work on his labor rate. I know I have.

You know ... there's a lot of wisdom in what Jack there is saying! One of the shops I quoted above, is the highest rate listed, but if I ran a Yummie motor, they's be the only one I'd go to.
I also believe in going to the best X-Dealer around if you have an X-brand motor. I know one case where a guy spent hours of billing on a brand A motor at a so-called "we fix 'em all" dealership. I finally talked him into bringing it to a reputable (and expen$ive) brand A service shop. They properly diagnosed the problem in 30-minutes! As they knew that motor inside and out ...
Paying for good service reminds me of that saying that's something like "Better to pay and have it fixed properly once, than paying to have it fixed 2 or more times ... "

i like shops that offer their rates at half hour minimums....sounds trivial but when you only get charged for a 1/2 hour for a sensor replacement it reflects honesty on the shops behalf.
