I don't think this falls into any of the regional categories so thought I would try here.

Does anyone know if there is a club or organization other then TU (or perhaps a chapter of TU) that concentrates its efforts on preserving the historically significant waters of the Letort Spring Creek in Carlisle, PA?

I have fished it many times although urban sprawl in the form of gravel pits, encroaching Walmarts, highway overpasses, etc keep popping up (#$119) .

Really just curious if there is a club which dedicates its efforts in fighting for the river

Anybody heard of such a thing?

Might be the Cumberland Valley TU because the Falling Spring TU is south around Chambersburg:cool:

Thanks saltydancindave, you must be right… Let me give reason for my question…

I have been living in London the last few years (moving back to the Eastern US at the end of the year) and there is a really cool club I belong to called the Wandle Trust...

If you haven't heard of the Wandle, in short it is (was) one of Southern England's most revered chalk streams, where Victorian lords and ladies would go in fine attire to present dry flies upstream to rising fish… some say it was where the sport was invented, or at least to the extent of England's role in upstream dry fly fishing. During the Industrial revolution, the area became famous for its paper milling (as many chalk streams were), and the water would often run a different color daily depending on the dye being used until one fine day the entire river caught fire. So that's the sad but true story of the Wandle, but a great group of like minded highly active (slightly loco --125-3) fly fishermen began to restore the historic water a few years ago. Ripping waders while pulling shopping trolleys and tires out of the river which had literally been used as a garbage dump for 100 years does not faze this heroic effort, and today one can again catch trout in the center of London (although they are still very secret about the exact locations). They have release programs with schools, and some even rumor sea trout and salmon being caught from time to time.

Its an inspiration piece...

Enough said, my question was sort of broadly addressing whether or not I guess Cumberland Valley TU or some other organization is rallying to protect the Letort specifically?

My brother went to school there and while he was there I guess there was a fight for some land... One entity was banned by the town and as the people celebrated another entity I will can HD moved in and quicky bought and built a stones throw from the bank.

Just curious I guess as the river is priceless in it historic value even if the fish are wiley as %^&*! --124-3

Have a flyfishing friend that used to run a flyshop not far from the Falling Spring. He's in that TU ( actually sold me tickets for a #6 weight combo raffle that I won years ago ) & the reason that it seemed to be the Cumberland Valley TU was the Jack Eschenmann Fly Fishing Faire Auction that they had . Falling Spring TU had many stream projects & as I recall; the flyfisher friend had a number of customers from the Carlisle area & did stream projects in that area too. Guess it's all still going on. The Wandle sounds like what the Potomac & Shenandoah Rivers were like after a weekend. Of course traces of the PCB's & dioxins will probably always be in the waters since the big floods put them there years ago. Spend 2 hours wading the river & then an hour in a bar afterwards; because stumbling over the alien deposits in the water is not conducive to ones health, especially after a couple beers:-%

I am not sure what tape it is, it doesnt look or feel like scotch tape, but it is some clear tape. How long do you think I would have until anything bad happens to the poster and I then have to restore it?
