I recently relocated to eastern Mass. I am originally from the area but left for a few years for school in PA. Anyway, I was looking for a local fly shop and found a great place in Concord Outfitters. When I was living in PA, the closest place was an Orvis 45 minutes away and the staff there either didn't know anything about fishing or were plain rude. The people at Concord Outfitters immediately offered help in finding things, had a great selection at great prices and went the extra mile with some local knowledge. Not to sound like some advertisement but anyone in the area should check them out.
I like CO too. They are always helpful but not over bearing.

I personally go to natick outdoor store but I am planning on trying the assabet next spring so I will have to go in there. I agree that having a local shop is important and we need to support them especially with monsters like bass pro trying to suck up all the market share.
I've been going to Concord Outfitters for a while now. Andy and Melissa are really knowledgeable and passionate about the sport. They run a great shop there, and are always willing to share their knowledge with others. The service and personal attention you get when you walk through the doors there is unmatched!
They do it right there, good for them...

I’m really glad to see this thread – after having grown up in a small family-run business through both good and bad times. I’ve have shopped at CO since I first learned about them in 2000. They care about their customers and go above and beyond to meet the customer’s needs. The environment that Andy and Melissa have created there is extremely friendly to fly fisherman of all skill levels – ie. the beginner will not feel like they are asking any stupid questions - and I know since I've asked plenty of them there. They both have a wealth of knowledge and they best part is that they don’t take themselves too seriously. Once you become a customer of Concord Outfitters you feel like you’ve become part of a community – which is exactly what a small local shop is all about.
