Hey,
I fished a few ponds last weekend. I got some good perch but no trout. Anyone had any luck? I fished crawler on the bottom but I didn't have a worm blower so I think that would have helped.

I fished Peters last week and got one 'standard stocking size' rainbow on a 1/4 oz Kastmaster - also saw a few caught on shiners.
I'm trying to find out if salmon were stocked this week at various ponds/lakes.

I've never tried going up to nickerson state park for salmon but it sounds like a lot of fun. A guy I know got a 30" fish in the middle of winter. That would be awesome

I fished tuesday afternoon and landed five largemouths between 2 and 4 pounds it was the best day of december largemouth fishing I've ever had! I was only out there for two hours so I was very pleased. Caught them all on 4 pound test so it was a lot of fun.

Sorry to keep draggin this thread up but does anyone know if the lower cape ponds have ice on them? I'm hoping to get the canoe out but I'll ice fish if I have to. Thanks!:-%

Long Pond in Plymouth is still open. Most of the smaller ponds are still ice covered.

FYI: Im now 0 for 4. Been skunked the last 4 times out fishing 3 different ponds.
Today, the pond should have been good for chatterbaits. Not so much...
Pre-spawn, please come soon

I fished a little yesterday. The pond was half frozen and the fish were NOT cooperating. It was fun to play with my new fish finder though. I just like getting out there in the winter. It's a good excuse to be on the water in the middle of winter. I marked fish on the bottom in about ten foot of water if that helps anyone. :-%

How's the ice on the upper Cape ? I ice fished on Sunday near the Canal and there was at least six inches of solid ice. Fishing wasn't bad either. :brow

Not sure about the upper cape. I know that I walked out on the ice where the water was a foot deep and instantly fell through.

Is there any open water on the cape still, or is it all locked up?

It was all frozen on Saturday. I'm hoping the warmer week this week will open it back up but we'll see

I find that some of my best icefishing has been on cape ponds. The ice season is often short and sometimes non existent. I hope there is cape ice this weekend.

We were out yesterday and did very well. All in all I think our total between two of us was 11 largemouths and 3 perch. Most of the action was befor noon. What a great day to be on the water/ice.

That's awesome! I'm hoping to be up next weekend. Maybe the ice will have melted by then and I can get the canoe out. Maybe pigs will fly

I got loads of perch up to 14", The way this weather has been I expect the ice to be even thicker this weekend.

Anybody else going out this weekend? I'm hoping the water warming up a little will make the fly rod an option. March starts this weekend!

How's the open water situation for ponds east of Hyannis to the outer Cape? At least 50 % open? Or less?

Everything I've driven by in the past 48 hours is almost wide open. It's pouring as we speak. So, I would imagine this would be the coup de gras for any remaining ice.--123-3
I'm tying trout flies as we speak. I'm actually going to do it this spring! I'm going troutin'!:brow

Lol trout are a great way to start the season. As long as the ice is gone I'm going to get the canoe out this weekend and try to get some perch on the fly. I was marking a lot of fish right on the bottom in about 10 foot of water a week ago. It's funny because I didn't see any fish at any other depth than that and they were not cooperating. Hopefully this weekend will be different.:-%
