My girl just handed me the new Off Shore Angler catalog by Bass Pro shops. Some new tuna stuff for 2009. Any thing worth shelling out some cash for:confused::confused::confused:

Stock up on 9" and 12" white or white/pearl sluggos, Owner 8/0 offshore bait hooks and X-Rap Magnum Divebait-30's.

Nothing new but why wait till next year to get ready.

Things change annually. If I were you, I would get a kite rod, a Penn 113 spooled with 50lb braid, and an SFE kite. What worked this year may not work next year.

Bingo. These fish have been different every year for at least the last 3 years.

DO NOT BUY 1 THING ACCEPT POGIES AND live bait hooks.
i have sold about 1000 pogies out of duxbury bay and there is not 1 thing that even comes close to pogies when it comes to fishing for the rats, pick up some floro carbon 80 lb, you will loose fish but you will get way more hook ups.

How bout a couple dozen Hi-tye baitfish patterns on 600SP's, an 18 weight, a Tibor Gulfstream loaded with a 650 grain Leviathon and 700 yards of 100 pound Gerry Brown and another season worth of patience.

Better make that a Pacific if you want 700yds of 100lb.

How many fish did you take on the bank this year?

Not sure I want to spend the time chasing bait. How much were you getting for the pogies?

I have fished the bank for three years caught 1 tuna, this year used pogies caught 19 rats and one giant, also the guy that said he didn't want to chase bait must be crazy cause there was so much bait this year you could use your hands to catch it.

Sounds like you had a great year.

No I'm not crazy, there was so much tuna around this year we didn't feel it necessary to spend any time going after bait.
