Looking for a tin (aluminum or whatever) boat in-for shore salt and fresh. Something I can launch on a beach or any boat ramp no matter the tide.

I really like the look of some of those Jon boats that are set up for flats fishing. If that make me a redneck so be it!:)

I currently have a 19 foot Key West CC. Very nice boat but I am looking to downsize. I would consider a trade plus cash.

Thx in advance.

I would think a 14 footer with a 20hp or 25hp pull-start OB rig would be ideal for what you're looking for. If you had a bit more $$, having electric start and a side console it pretty cool and the battery/OB rectifier would power any lights or electronics.

I found a few such rigs from $1200 to $25 on Craig's List last end of Summer. Some with or without trailers.

I've got a 14ft Starcraft with a four stroke yamaha 25hp on craigslist that I am considering selling to get a 20 SeaCraft if you are interested. Not sure where you live, but I'm in NJ. The boat is very wide and deep for a 14 and I have fished the rip at Sandy Hook twice with it.

I don't know the rules for posting links here but I can provide more info if you'd like...

I used to run around in an 18 ft Lund Alaskan with a 40 hp tiller steer on it. It was a bad a$$ hull for rivers and marshes and on decent days she could be found out in open water.

The 18 is probably too big for what you are looking to do with it but I would consider the 16 and 14 foot versions of the Alaskan. I'm just really fond of that hull.

For Car toping I would go with a 12' Start Craft Sea Light and a 6 Hp Out Board. Boat is only 124lb, Would not go heavier than that.

I Have a Grumman Gboat that is great for cartoping but is not the best as far as being seaworthy. OK Late night on Joppa but I would not chance it in the day.

There is a 16' Gheenoe on craigs list right now. The guy will deal so don't let the price scare you. I considered buying it to add to the fleet.

I am selling my boat next spring (19 Quintrex CC) and spending a season in my Yak ( Hobie Outback) and rowing in my Adirondak guide boat. Looking forward to it actually. Hope to be ordering my new rig by next Fall , love the Maritime skiff patriot but I don't like glass boats , Looking like a 23' Silver Streak Pilot House will be the way I go. The Pacific sleeper is nice to but it is a 26' and to big for trailering where I fish.

Good luck and see ya out there

This is the cats meow for $7500.00. I wish I had listened to myself before buying my Hewes and I would have a tin boat.

Tin boats would make to much noise for the flats, no?

I had a 12' Duroboat with a 10hp Honda that I fished from for a couple years. Very stable, very tough. I had a trailer for it but most of the time I just hauled it from my house down to the beach pulling it on a little dolly made to move small sailboats around the boat yard.

Even though I love my new boat I miss the simplicity of that boat.

I would check them out.

I keep a 15 ft lund with a less than 15 hp motor around for some ponds in NH that have a maximum size and hp restriction that this fits under. Also great little boat for one up fishing in all kinds of places. Big enough to ride out some unforseen weather events that would have scared me in the canoe. Just my two cents. marty
