I've been itching to get out lately and after a long drive back from Vt on Saturday headed over to south Natick for the last few hours of light. I have been trying to expand my local Carp knowledge so my plan was to see if there are any carp around the dam and while waiting for the carp to start feeding I'd catch a few crappie to keep me busy. I fished the dam many years back and caught a bunch of crappie on red streamers so I thought I'd it would be easy. No such luck.

Once I arrived at the dam/park, I tossed a bunch of bread out along the shoreline which was not covered in ice and near the dam. Long story short, lots of bread but no carp. I did manage to attract a few ducks though.

As for the crappie, nothing. I was using a little ice jig that has worked on crappie in the winter but I didn't get a single bite.

After a while I walked down stream behind the bridge and ball fields to toss some bread but nothing.

Lets hope they were just under the ice where you couldn't reach with the bread.

Good report and I am looking forward to safe ice.
