Fished Sunday, Dec. 28th around Venice, FL in the intercoastal for snook on the fly. Weather was perfect, no wind, good tides, basically no boats. And to top it off a great BITE!

Total tally (all on fly):
13 snook, 3 ladyfish, & 1 bluefish

There wasn't too much bait coming through, which I think helped us, because the fish weren't keying in on one type of food source.

Last trip of '08 for me and a great way to top it off.

Happy New Year!

Just out of curiosity, how big are the bluefish you get down there on the west coast of FL?

The bluefish down there would be bait for BFT. A "big" one might go 5-6lbs.

:I was just in St Pete 12/26 and fished the docks at night. Caught my first red, several snook and trout and a small mangrove snapper. Small whitebait pattern was key. What fly was your goto fly that night?

Can't wait to try that type of fishing again. Those underwater lights are awesome aren't they?--125-3
