First time attempting ice fishing. Hitting a small pond in my buddies backyard in Natick. Lots of small bass and sunfish in summer. Never really fished it that much though. See others out there doing so there must be something biting.

Couple of questions

1. Depths to target?
2. Baits to use?
3. lures?

Any other suggestions? Just looking to get outside this weekend in the flatlands!

TIA,
Nick

Shiners are the usual bait. I like medium shiners since it provides more action when fish are biting. You are allowed 5 lines. When the fishing is good, I put down 4 shiners on my tip ups and use a short rod to jig the fifth hole. You generally want the bait near the bottom, if weedy then just above the weeds. Something small and shiny works well for jigging, kastmaster, swedish pimple etc.
