i am heading down to the lower keys the first week of march to fish with my dad. we will be fishing out of little sugarloaf key for a few days with a guide. although we will be using the guide's equipment, i will be bringing a travel spin rod and reel to fish a little before and after the trips. it is cold up here in boston and i want to fish as much as possible! my question is about spooling my baitrunner. do you guys recommend mono or is braided line ok? the water clarity on the flats is clearly different than up here. so - monofilament? braided(any brand over others?) braided with a fluorocarbon leader? am i making this more difficult than necessary? can i push my luck and ask what i should pack in a sparse tackle bag? i was thinking just a few finesse minnows?

thanks,

charlie

Power pro is my choice and a flouro leader, gold spoon , doa shrimp and or jig heads for live shrimp and a small asst hooks and acouple poppers/swimbaits have caught multiple species in my last 3 trips. 30 lb pp seemed excessive till i hook a tarpon! I now bring two spools of diff. line.
