Will be leaving for Freeport 2/18/09 for a week of leisure. Remember, this trip is for the wife, but she is a happy camper just sitting on the beach reading a book, so I will be free to fish some. I booked a full day with Perry Demeritte (only day he had available) on the 19th and will rely upon him to provide recommendations for a couple of other days as to different guides. Might try some DIY as well.

Being from Oklahoma, we usually go to Cozumel where I fish with Alex Euan. Only been to the Bahamas once, which was about 12 years ago. Wondering if anyone could provide any further details about Grand Bahama before we leave. Thanks.

I stayed @ Pelican Bay Hotel in the Lucaya area a few years ago. You should be early enough to avoid the college break scene there which was a zoo when I was there in Mar. I booked guides through the hotel. The fishing was very good when the weather allowed us to get out. I think I got out 3 days out of 6. When the wind is out of a certain direction (I think it was N or NW), it basically shut out the flats skiffs from getting to desirable locations. Fishing is much better w/ a guide from a boat (when you can get out) than DIY in that area.
You might do a search on this forum for Lucaya. You'll get a bunch of hits.
