Headed down (from the COLD north) late April for a little Tarpon fishing. How's Everglades City that time of year? Should we head East (Biscayne)? North (Naples...Tampa)?

Would love to fish the everglades as we haven't had the chance to yet. But good fishing is far and away the priority.

Thanks:)

I'd say that's a good choice. I'm sure others that have fished or guide in that area will chime in with more specfic advice.

Everglades will have plenty of baby tarpon around. The bigger ones usually show up around the end of May. It's a special place.

If you're hunting a big one the other end of ENP is where you want to be in April. That time of the year the Gulf coast of the 'Glades is on fire.... Guides from Chokoloskee/Everglades City will run across from their area to fish from the Shark River up to Broad River (the river mouths, just in front of that area, and as much as a few miles up inside)... From Choko it's 35+ miles, from Flamingo it's 21 to less than 30 miles.

The very first of the big fish are just now showing up (check out my last fishing report). We got a 70lb fish in the same river day before yesterday... In very early May, the big fish in my area will begin to move back towards the 10K area or down towards Islamorada as the spawning migration gets into high gear.

They come back towards the end of summer and then it really gets good....
