DMF SEEKS INPUT ON 2009 SPINY DOGFISH SPECIFICATIONS
Public meeting on March 17th
The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries is holding a public meeting to discuss with fishermen and processors possible 2009 spiny dogfish specifications. Specifications include possession limits (amounts and timing) during the period May 1, 2009 through April 30, 2010. The timing of the small-scale directed fishery in state waters will be discussed as well as appropriate bycatch limits. Also the meetings will allow an opportunity for fishermen and processors to raise any concerns about spiny dogfish management in state waters and in the EEZ.
The meeting will be held on March 17th (2PM) at the Annisquam River Marine Fisheries Station (30 Emerson Ave. Gloucester). Following development of proposals the Division will be holding a formal two-week comment period before finalizing specifications with the Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission.
